Flotators

Flotators are used in wastewater treatment processes to remove oil products, oils, fats, surfactants, heavy metals. Unlike skimmers, a flotator can separate contaminants from stable emulsions.

Typical industries for the use of flotators are oil production and refining, food processing, transport infrastructure, and municipal wastewater drainage.

Wastewater flotation

Wastewater flotation is an effective method of isolating various types of contaminants from water with subsequent collection and disposal. Flotation is used to remove petroleum products, oils, surfactants, insoluble colloidal dispersion impurities the spontaneous settling of which is poor (foam flotation method), and also to remove dissolved substances (foam separation method). It is also used to separate activated sludge after biochemical treatment. Flotation can be used in conjunction with flocculation in order to increase the efficiency of treatment.

The advantages of flotation are the process continuity, a wide range of applications, low capital and operating costs, simple equipment, selectivity for the separation of impurities, a higher process speed compared to settling, the possibility of obtaining sludge of lower humidity, a high degree of purification (up to 98%), the possibility of recovery of removed substances. Flotation is also accompanied by aeration of wastewater, a decrease in the concentration of surfactants and easily oxidized substances, bacteria and microorganisms.
